Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is an experience-focused approach that helps people process painful emotions and build on their own capacity to heal.
What is AEDP?
AEDP was developed by Dr. Diana Fosha. It draws on attachment research and neuroscience. The therapist is warm and actively involved, and notices moments of strength and connection as well as pain.
What happens in AEDP sessions?
Sessions focus on what you feel in the moment, in your body and in the relationship with your therapist. The goal is to help you stay with difficult emotions safely, rather than avoiding or being overwhelmed by them.
Who might AEDP help?
AEDP is used for trauma, attachment wounds, long-standing patterns in relationships and difficulty feeling or expressing emotions.
How do I know if AEDP is a good fit?
If insight alone has not been enough and you want work that is felt as well as understood, AEDP may suit you. A consultation is the place to ask.
